A very big well done to the 3 Humorous Speech and 5 Table Topics contestants at our Club Contest on Wednesday. We heard about George and the Dragon, the travails of a postman, how spouses were met and enticed into marriage (a frequent theme…) and how gold is mined amongst other things. Special congratulations to our 2 winners who will now compete at the Area Contest. This will be taking place in our usual meeting location – the Kings Head and Bell – on Monday 15th October. Please go along and support them, it promises to be a very entertaining evening.

I would also like to thank those people who stepped forward to help make the contest happen, including visiting members from Newbury and Oxford clubs and in particular our VPE. Without those people, it would not have happened and that would have been a shame because it was fun, many people commented on how much they enjoyed the evening.

The variety of speeches and knowledge is one of the great things about an Abingdon Speakers Club evening. Everyone has something to contribute so sign up to deliver your next speech without delay. You can do this on easySPEAK or by emailing the VPE directly.
