We are an established South Oxfordshire public speaking club, part of the worldwide educational movement that is Toastmasters International
Abingdon Speakers chartered as a club in 2010 holding its first meeting in a South Oxfordshire pub called the The Kings Head and Bell. Since then we helped many people attain stellar achievements in their professional and personal lives through the power of communication.
Our main goal is to help you overcome fears of public speaking and develop your communication and leadership skills. We have a very informal approach and like to be as inclusive and approachable as possible.
Abingdon Speakers keeps that sense of purpose, epitomized by the Toastmaster values of:
Toastmasters International, the international education organisation founded in America in 1924 by Ralph Smedley, grew out of a single club, Smedley Chapter One Club at the YMCA in Santa Ana, California. Toastmasters International was incorporated under California law on December 19, 1932.
You are never very far from a Toastmaster club. In South Oxfordshire there are over 40, a list of which can be found on the search facility at Toastmasters.org and on the London Speaker, the e-magazine that covers London clubs.
Every year a new committee comes together to run the club and create the magic.
